Course Description

The Acute Recognition and Resus Emergency Skills (ARREST) course is a course designed to focus clinicians on the skills required to manage the acutely deteriorating patient whether they be in primary care, rural and remote or emergency department settings.

The course is a mixture of workshops, practical teaching sessions and simulations which allows plenty of hands on learning.

Small groups allow plenty of practice and time for individual learning and scenarios based on the unique work environment of participants.

The full day course with 6.5 hrs of teaching covers the following topics/skills

  • ALS for adults including
  • Advanced airway procedures, open cricothyroidotomy and RSI
  • Acute ECG interpretation
  • Acute Blood gas/Point of care testing interpretation
  • Prioritisation of radiology ordering in acute care
  • Scenarios management of acute deterioration of adult and adolescent patient

For Australian courses the 6.5 hours are covered in one day, for our overseas courses the teaching is spread over three days.
